WORKPLACE NOISE MONITORING SERVICES IN SINGAPORE

Why Workplace Noise Assessment?:

Noise in the workplace is the major cause of hearing loss in Singapore. Noise induced hearing loss can neither be reversed or cured with sufferers often facing social isolation from communication difficulties.
Excessive noise in the workplace can also cause immediate problems including stress, high blood pressure, and sleep problems. Noise also presents a safety hazard as noise can interfere with communication, act as a distraction, and make warning alarms harder to hear.

Workplace Safety and Health (Noise) Regulations, 2011, 7.—(1) require Where there are more than 10 people are likely to be exposed to excessive noise at your workplace, you must conduct noise monitoring at least once every 3 years. Noise monitoring must be done by a competent person.

Noise Monitoring help to identify and assess exposure to noise and control health and safety risks arising from hazardous noise in the workplace in accordance with the Workplace Safety & Health Guidelines (HearingConservation) Programme.

QSafe Consultants & Services will help you meet all of your obligations to protect your workers from noise induced hearing loss.

Noise monitoring involves:

  • Workplace noise monitoring - testing noise levels throughout the workplace.
  • Personal noise monitoring - testing noise levels that specific groups of workers are exposed to.

QSafe Consultants & Services delivers occupational workplace noise monitoring and testing to meet compliance under Workplace Safety and Health (Noise) Regulations, 2011 and Workplace Safety & Health Guidelines (HearingConservation) Programme.
We provide Workplace Noise Monitoring Services, Personal Noise Monitoring Services in accordance to MOM regulations and Workplace Safety and Health Guidelines. We also provide Boundary Noise Monitoring services accordance to NEA requirement. Our Satffs are MOM certified Noise Monitoring Officer and Noise Control Officer.

Our MOM certified noise officers will provide:

  • A Detailed Occupational Noise Survey conducted in accordance with Workplace Safety and Health (Noise) Regulations, 2011 and Workplace Safety & Health Guidelines (HearingConservation) Programme.
  • Identification of significant noise sources and workers likely to be exposed to noise above specified levels
  • Delineation of compulsory hearing protection areas
  • Selection of appropriate personal hearing protectors in accordance with SS 549 : 2009 Code of practice for selection, use, care and maintenance of      hearing protectors
  • Provision of advice on engineering controls and modification of working environments to reduce noise exposure

Objectives Of A Noise Assessment:

The type and detail of noise measurements in the workplace or occupational noise survey and the noise assessment will depend on how the information will be used. The general objectives of the occupational noise survey and workplace noise assessment are to:

  • Identify all significant noise sources and workers likely to be exposed to noise above specified levels (noise exposure standards). This will generally involve a walkthrough or base-line noise survey with spot noise measurements and if required personal noise dosimetry taken and the evaluation of the average noise exposure over the work shift duration (LAeq,8h) and peak noise levels (LCPeak) where relevant.
  • Obtaining information on noise sources and work practices that will help deciding what measures should be taken to reduce noise levels in the workplace.
  • Check the effectiveness of measures taken to reduce exposure (Provided that a base-line has been established in a more comprehensive noise assessment, it might be possible to restrict such noise surveys to measurement of noise levels at a few defined positions and under a restricted range of working or loading conditions of the equipment involved.)
  • Help in the selection of appropriate personal hearing protectors.
  • Delineate hearing protection areas. The detail and accuracy needed will depend on individual circumstances encountered in the workplace and a noise contour map can be produced if required.

We offer the following Noise Monitoring Services  (MOM approved):

  • Workplace Area Noise Monitoring (Noise Mapping)

  • Personal Noise Monitoring (Dosimetry)

  • Construction Noise Monitoring (Real Time)

Why Required Personal Noise Monitoring (Dosimetry) ?

Latest ammendement in Workplace Safety and Health Guidelines Hearning Conversation Programme defined Every worker who is exposed to or is likely to be exposed to excessive noise must be included in the Noise Monitoring exercise.

A personal monitoring, sometimes known as dosimetry, gives a more accurate representation of the worker’s exposure to noise during his entire work shift. The dosimeter which is used for personal monitoring stores the noise level measured during the monitoring and averages the data that it collects concurrently. At the end of the monitoring, Sound Level Profile can be retrieved from the accompanying computer software.

Noise Monitoring Report :

QSafe Pte. Ltd provides the service of carrying out noise assessment with approved techniques and standard procedures, using suitable equipment (UK Manufactured) which is properly calibrated to ensure accuracy of acquired data. A report including recommendation on noise control measures will be provided not more than 14 days after the noise monitoring.

We are MOM approved consultants company to submit Noise Monitoring Report behalf of our clients.
